Sutherland’s submission “Sabotage?” was created specifically for the “It’s My Life” exhibition within House of Smalls.
Returning to a dolls house scale marks a year since launching his creative practice. The piece sees him reflect on his conflict with high ego/low self esteem and self sabotage inherent to many with addiction and mental health issues.
It's My Life is a group exhibition featuring the work of 41 artists who responded to a call for artwork based around medication, self-medication, dependence and/or addiction; whether past, present or intermittent.
"Could've been the whiskey, could've been the pills, could've been the dream she was trying to kill"
~ Emmylou Harris
It is an actual exhibition, in that the artists’ works will hang on and stand within the diminutive walls of the gallery. The words and language used in profiles are the artists' own.
If you're interested in purchasing/discussing any of the artwork please contact The House of Smalls.
